Peter and the Wolf

On February 26 & 27, 2018, the Symphony of the Southwest continues its’ decades-long tradition of presenting live performances of Peter and the Wolf for elementary school children.

Peter and the Wolf was composed by Sergei Prokofiev in 1936 and originally performed for a children’s theater in Moscow. Prokofiev used four different instrument families (strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion) to represent the characters in the story.

There will be live narration of the story and a demonstration of the individual instruments on stage prior to the performance.

Peter and the Wolf is a delightful way to introduce children to music and the instruments of the orchestra.
